It has been awhile I didn't update my blog. Acting lazy lately, haha. So I think this post won't be long either :P Well, this movie we watched it about 3 weeks ago :P I think now GSC also stop screening already. We went to watch this movie on movie day (Wednesday), before some of the MU Gang (Qian, Haow, and my Des) went back to KL to continue their new semester :(

Talk about Sherlock Holmes, we have our own short movie back to 2 years ago. When we were forced to take liberal art for our course. And so there was a subject called "Short Stories" but not in my course, we took Psychology that semester. It was Zing who needed to shoot for a short movie from one of the short stories they studied. And so, Zing get this story, Sherlock Holmes's short story, The Adventure of Speckled Band. Because of his group has lack of actors and actress, he asked for our help. So Hins become Sherlock Holmes, John become Dr. Watson, and the actresses Desing and Qian, last but not least, Zing as a maid of Sherlock Holmes Mrs Hudson! LOL. Me as a camera man and the editor, director was Zing. Ops, looks like I'm out of topic :P Because of this, we claim that "our movie" is now finally release and so we went to watch it together. As you can see, this movie have 2 amazing actors! Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law! Both of them were great great actor! Especially Jude Law! Love his British accents and British type humors they used all the time. And I love the movie sets. It looks so detailed, so antics and really feels like went back to that old time of London. And also! Hans Zimmer soundtrack!! In case you guys don't know, Hans Zimmer is a famous composer for movie soundtrack. Most of the famous movie where they have great soundtrack were composed by him like The Dark Knight, The Holiday, Pirates of the Carribean where it was so great that I can recognized the music at once and know which movie it's from when I heard the it. In the nutshell I love the whole production of the movie, everything were so detail and fine.

Oh! And one thing I should remind you guys. From the trailer it looks like an action movie more than a detective movie, but actually it's not really what the trailer shows. It really has mind trick and very detail and amazing investigation going on. That's the first impression after I watched the trailer, I feels like it would be another "popcorn movie" until I saw Rotten Tomatoes rated it 68% which is really not bad!

As for the story, I've never read any Sherlock Holmes's book, so I'm not really sure if they follow the originality. I've heard people in forum said that Sherlock Holmes shouldn't be acting like that and his outfit is so not "Holmes". But for us non-readers we were okay with it of course. I always love detective story, like Death Note. Although this movie doesn't have a great mind fight as Death Note, but still I love it. Love how Sherlock Holmes can analyzed a person just from him or her attitude, outfit, behavior and even smell.

I like how the procedure of the investigation where every single details at the beginning of the movie, where some of you never think of the small little thing that mentioned was one of the clue. It was just like JK Rowling style where we never expect, some small little incident, or small little object, could twisted the storyline.

Besides, I love the interactions between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. It was funny, and some say gay. Haha. Yeah, both of them were so close until it was a little bit gay. It shows how Holmes jealous when Watson decided to move out and live with his fiancée. And how Holmes lure Watson to join him in his investigation like forgot to bring a gun on purpose on a dangerous mission and forced Watson to follow him. It was actually quite funny to see how they interacted and show how strong their friendship were, yes friendship, not gay because Dr. Watson has a fiancée and Sherlock Holmes has a women he love. LOL

I rated this movie 8/10
It would be greater if they play more mind tricks and more mind fighting thing in the movie. Something like between Kira and L in Death Note XD
In this movie there was a villian which, I forgotten his name :P but I heard Sherlock Holmes book readers said that he is Holmes biggest enemy and there will be a lot of mind trick in the sequel! Hopefully can see the mind fight between them ^^
