New Harry Potter Breaks All Records and Sells Over 2 Million Copies in One Day

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has, as expected, broken all known and independently validated UK book sales records for first day sales with an incredible 2,009,574 copies sold through UK bookshops, supermarkets, internet sites, and newspapers on its first day of release — Saturday 16 July 2005. This figure includes consumer sales from non-panel members, such as book clubs. Further sales will have been made to libraries, schools and institutions.

Fans of the Harry Potter series have been waiting since June 2003 to find out what happens next and it appears from the first day sales that two years has never seemed so long!

In July 2003, sales of the hardback editions of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix broke all records with 1,777,541 units in its first day’s sales through the UK Total Consumer Market (TCM) and also included 1st day sales from non-panel members, such as book clubs.

Nielsen BookScan oversees the book trade Gold & Platinum awards, for which a Gold is awarded at 0.5 million copies and a Platinum at 1 million copies sold. Richard Knight, Managing Director of Nielsen BookScan said “Typically a good book will take about four to six months to go Gold and very few books reach Platinum in their first year of publication. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince achieved Platinum in less than one day!”

Sales of all Harry Potter titles monitored by Nielsen BookScan in the UK now total over 19 million copies and worldwide in excess of 52 million!

*Estimate first-day sales of children and adult editions from provisional data received by 9am on Monday 18 July 2005. Full and final figures will be available from 4pm Tuesday 19 July 2005.

Synopsis...

I've finally finish reading the book... takes 5 days only :P n here is the synopsis.. for those who r interested in reading tis book n not yet read, i advice u not to read this blog...

in this book, dumbledore explain to harry why voldermolt is immortal.. it's because of something call "Horcruxes". Dumbledore show harry a memory that the young voldermolt (Tom Riddle) was interested in this thing call Horcruxes and ask his potion teacher for more information about this. so the teacher who are no idea that this student is going to be the dangerous wizard ever had told him that, horcruxes is a very dark magic, very dark indeed, that make by a wizard who wish become immortal. the concept is, split out part of your soul and hide it in some object. when that person's body is kill, that person soul can't die yet because there's still part of his/her soul remain out there undamage. he also explain how to make one:
1. get a item that you think is save and suitable (in this case voldermolt choose historical things like trophy).
2. to make one you must have done evil, murder.. the damage on others people make advantages to the person who want to create a horcruxes.

voldermolt also asked that if he make 7 horcruxes will be more powerful cause in magical world 7 is the most powerful number. but the teacher told him that nobody had tried before to make a horcruxes more than 1.

from this event, dumbledore make a conclusion that, Tom Riddle (young voldermolt) had made 7 horcruxes. he suspect one of the horcruxes was already destroy by harry in the 2nd book. the diary, tom riddle diary that open the chamber of secret. dumbledore told harry that he is also successfully destroy 1 horcruxes which is a ring.

at the end, draco malfoy, who's turning in to death eater (voldermolt's servents) too help the others death eater to get into hogwart school. to kill dumbledore, which is a very good timing cause at that time, dumbledore is weak (more detail about why he is weak pls ask me). then severus snape turn up and join the death eater. dumbledore trust snape for some reason, but he betray him. for a long time snape has been remain as voldermolt loyal servents and spy on dumbledore. he killed dumbledore~~~ (oh my god.. harry potter's series without dumbledore, hardly imagine)

because of the death eater successfully enter to hogwart ground, hogwart is no longer save, not without dumbledore. so, after this evident happens, the school is going to be close down. in the next book, there's no more hogwart school. harry is planning to continue track down the remain horcruxes and destroy it to make voldermolt mortal again so that he can be kill. in the next book, ron and hermione are going to travel with harry to find the horcruxes together. so let's us wait patiently before the 7th and the last book of harry potter release~~~~~

very sad, dumbledore died already.. 1st harry's parents, then harry's godfather sirius black and now dumbledore... haiz~~~ Posted by Picasa

Harry Potter and College life...

"It is the middle of the summer, but there is an unseasonal mist pressing against the windowpanes. Harry Potter is waiting nervously in his bedroom at the Dursleys' house in Privet Drive for a visit from Professor Dumbledore himself. One of the last times he saw the Headmaster was in a fierce one-to-one duel with Lord Voldemort, and Harry can't quite believe that Professor Dumbledore will actually appear at the Dursleys' of all places. Why is the Professor coming to visit him now? What is it that cannot wait until Harry returns to Hogwarts in a few weeks' time? Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts has already got off to an unusual start, as the worlds of Muggle and magic start to intertwine..." Introduction of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
