Gizwiz Halloween Party

It was Halloween!!! I've never attend any Halloween Party before this. I've always wanted to do something on Halloween! Attending a costume party.. Guess what I would be if I can choose what costume to wear on Halloween! Some of you might have already know! YES! CORRECT!! Lord Voldemort!! The Dark Lord! He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named! However, too bad this time I can't choose what I want to be! :(

We prepared this party 3 weeks ahead. Before Kenneth and Esther left, they have to trace rats, bats and spiders, print out from the computer, and cut out all the rats, bats and spiders. Then Jasmine and Andrew went to buy some spiderweb, and small Halloween plastic pumpkin, and some materials for us to decorate. Me and Ding Ren's job was less difficult. Doesn't need much designing skill. We have to make a huge spider to hang at the ceiling, make ghost with some cloths and balloons, hanging some stuff here and there. My expertise was hanging spiderweb. I can make a nice and real spiderweb! This were the outcome!

Of course, not to mention, our decoration supervisor, Ms Tee, her responsibility was think and design the main entrance, which was the most important because that was the first impression for our guests. So, this was her sketch..

And Ding Ren do the magic!!

Tada!! Impressive huh?! Hardly imagine, our programmer Ding Ren have a nice handcraft, cut and join all the houses with a few pieces of cardboards (branded cardboard bought by Jasmine, must be expensive because it were really thick).

When the lights off, and add some lighting behind the castle.. Spooky huh~~

Besides, we have a runway stage! For a fashion show.. Kenneth getting excited when he heard this, he love to imitate Project Runway..
So, with this deco, this time is going to be a big party huh! We've invited about 20 guests. And what are we going to play this time?

This time (Jasmine's plan), there was a costume competition. Previously all our parties were just wii tournament, which our Jasmine think it wasn't fair because most of the time girls lose cause they were not that good in console game, and because she said we were "pakat" at the Moon Moon Celebration and cause her lose the game and have to wear a weird costume (made by herself) and distributing moon cake along Gurney Drive! And so, this party was also known as "Gizwiz Halloween Party - Revenge of the Queen"!!! Scare huh? So what was her revenge plan? Yes, this time was her field! Design!! Costume design!! Argh! Nightmares for me and Ding Ren cause we were both programmers! Not to mention Zing round a big round to curse me!

Quote:
"Zing Chuang
Keng~ but even u last minute pun sure will not lose lah....lol...other ppl without design exp lagi teruk
October 27 at 12:05am"

So what's the punishment this time? Distributing gifts at Upper Penang Road, WITH THE LOSER COSTUME! BOTH THE MODEL AND DESIGNER!

Rules:
Each of us have to draw and see who will be our model, and draw for what you gonna dress up your model, with only the materials provided, we were not allowed to bring our own materials, and we were only allowed to complete our costume in the office.
My model, was Jasmine! And I'm suppose to dress her up as an Axe Man!

TOO BAD!! My designer, Esther, HAVE A VERY BAD LUCK! BECAUSE, SHE HAVE TO DRESS ME UP!! AS A SEXY PRINCESS!!! Thundershock T.T I couldn't accept this, IF (touch wood) I lose, I HAVE TO GO TO UPPER PENANG ROAD AS A SEXY PRINCESS!! Oh my god, took me a week to accept the reality. I can dress up as whatever costume, ghost, Vampire, Dracula, Lord Voldemort, Werewolves, ANYTHING! But not a "ah kua" T.T This is really serious because it will affect my dignity T.T I even have insomnia 2 nights before the party.

And then, there was a wii tournament a week before the party, the highest mark get to choose from the limited materials provided, which included MONEY! There were 3 RM10 waited to be picked. Fortunately, I won the wii competition, first place, and so I picked a RM10, and an axe for my Axe Women, Jasmine. And so the competition begun, we have a week to prepare and make the costume.
With that RM10, I bought brown color cloths 2.5 meter for the top, black color cloth 1 meter for the mask, a black rubber glove, and I still have RM3.50 left..

and so this was the first stage of my costume..

Boring huh!! I was freak out!! WORRIED!! And thanks for Andrew and Jasmine on giving me advice what I should add on to make it looks interesting, plus with my creativity.. I bought more materials with the RM3.50, yellow gold glass paper, shinning powder, and shinning moon and stars..

FINALLY!! The big day is here.. 30th October 2009.. Guests started to arrive around 7pm, and all the models were starting to make up while the guests enjoying the food!!

Me.. T.T

And then, the show begun!! May Yen as the host.. Now all our guests were the judges, they have to give marks base on the costume, runway music, and performances.. Here are our contestants!!

Gizwiz Studio Bali Trip - The Food

Finally, I came to the last post of the Bali trip. It was more than a month since I came back from Bali and I have no time to blog since then. Because of working overtime, because of accompany my girlfriend who came back to Penang for her industrial training for 3 months and etc etc. Guess most of you guys have already cold down and getting less interested about our trip, even me myself has forgotten some of the things that happened :P

Okay, the food in Bali was actually so so. Not as nice as Penang's food. Especially for the Balinese food it was so so. Disappointed. But for the seafood it was FABULOUS!! I'll introduce one by one, some which weren't nice I won't blog about it anymore.

Onde Onde

This was our first restaurant we step into on the first day we reach Bali. It was nearby our hotel (Holiday Inn Resort). We took Taxi there and ask the Taxi driver to bring us to somewhere we can eat. Most of the taxi driver likes to bring us to seafood restaurant which were very expensive, don't know why.. =.=" And so when we walk along the street we found this quite economic and nice ambiances restaurant - Onde Onde

They served the Balinese food, as for us defined as, the Malay food. Which included some Nasi Lemak alike rice, Nasi Goreng and etc etc. Before the food were served we took a lot of photos here, I wonder if the waiters there thought that we were 'shua pa kao' or not :P

This candy alike things, sorry I've forgot the name :P, it was very nice..

My Nasi Goreng Nanas, tasted not bad.. Still can be consider as nice..

Sorry I can't remember what's the name of the other food.. paiseh.. just check out the photos la! :P

Flap Jacks

On the next day, we decided to do some shopping at Kuta! Before that, we ate our lunch at the Flap Jacks. I'm not sure whether this restaurant is only available in Bali or it's a franchise restaurant. However we decided to give it a try as the ambiances was not bad :P

For the drinks, I've ordered this White Ice Coffee and Nuts. Tasted really really nice!! Especially the nuts! The taste of white coffee mixed with the nuts were perfect!

Ding Ren's latte..

Etee's orange juice..

As for the food, I've ordered spaghetti and it tasted really really nice!! I love it so much. Cheesy and salty! But won't over cheesy or over salty. However my colleagues felt that it was too salty and too greasy. So in the end she can't finish her spaghetti and me and Ding Ren help her clean it up!!

Ding Ren's omelet (if I'm not mistaken :P).. Tasted so so.. My spaghetti was nicer :P

Bali Colada

We have our dinner here at Bali's Discovery Shopping Mall. The mall was build by the beach. We took our dinner here while we were walking to Hard Rock Cafe. This was actually the worst we have eaten in Bali.

Balinese food, aka Malay food, like Nasi Goreng this and that. Tasted so so so normal and some don't have any other taste except spicy! All I can tasted was spicy!! No more! Jasmine ate so little there and put the food aside and stop eating. Terrible..

My don't know Nasi whatsoever.. Tasteless except spicy..

Only Ding Ren's beef was not bad.. the others.. speechless..

Jimbaran Bay

This was the nicest food we ate throughout our 5 days trip in Bali!! Nicest, and expensivest! Haha.. Thankfully, it was a treat from company, THANK YOU GIZWIZ! This was also the first time I tasted lobster in my life! :P

Jimbaran Bay, is a famous place in Bali for seafood! There were hundreds of seafood restaurant along the beach! Our tour guide brought us here around 5-6pm, so that we can enjoy the sunset while having our dinner! Before we arrived, our tour guide told us that this place was bomb before too!! @.@ But still we couldn't miss out this place isn't it? :P Okay, there were hundreds of restaurant, how do we choose which one to walk in? The prices for all the restaurants were same, so no chance choosing the cheapest. This one, sorry I have no idea what's the name, were recommended by our tour guide, that he thinks that they have the most fresh seafood compare to the others. However, there were not much customers in this restaurant compare with others! I wonder if we were cheated and the owner of the restaurant pay our tour guide to bring us here. Luckily, the food were still very satisfying! Especially the lobster and Satay!! YUMMY!!

The coconut, nothing special about this.. :P

The soup.. tasted so so..

The prawns!! Very nice!!

The lobster!! Sipek nice!!

The red snapper!! Super nice!!

The crabs!! Also very nice!!

The best satay ever!! Don't mention Kajang satay it was nothing compare to this!!

Guess how much we ate!! RM600

Thanks to Gizwiz again! For this most expensive meal in my life! Haha! Next time if I come back here I wonder if I have the wealth to eat all these!!

In a nutshell, This company trip was really really really nice! We all enjoy it very much! Relationship between colleagues also getting better. Definitely have build up a nice and friendly working environment! Looking forward to the next company trip! Wonder where it would be XD

Gizwiz Studio Bali Trip - Places We Went

For the first day, we walk around the town area at Kuta without any tour guide. It wasn't really a good idea as we didn't know any places there and walk blindly. Wasted a lot of time actually. The first impression Bali gave me, was actually quite a 'kampung' place. Because their road was small, many motorcyclist of the locals doesn't wear helmet while they were driving. But there was a big contrast. Although the road was small and old, as we walked along the road we saw many many nice ambiances restaurants and hotels. And they were quite expensive.

Kuta Beach

After some blind walking and shopping (wasn't really nice place to shop!), we came to the Kuta Beach. My jaws drop when I saw the beach. So many 'ang mor' there sunbathing, swimming and surfing. It was like in the movie where you saw many people walking around and playing around at the beach. Although Penang have a lot of beach but I never saw that kind of scene before. Not to mention that I never see people surf before as it doesn't exist in Malaysia!! The sun was shine and hot! But once we get into the sea, it was cold! So comfortable playing water there. The waves are so pretty and big. Not as big as tsunami of course, just big enough to surf. There was something funny about the sea. There were quite a distance of the sea where the water were very shallow, just as high as my ankle only. So it wasn't really dangerous if you surf there. However, we don't have enough time to surf either :(

Besides, we saw many Japanese there too. There was a bunch of gorgeous Japanese girls. They were drawing a temporary tatoo on their chest!! The Balinese tatoo artist must be excited while he was drawing on her chest! Just on top of their boobs! Oh my God.. They were really really pretty. All of us standing there watching for quite a few minutes, and sorry I didn't take any photo of theirs :P

Then we decided to walk around Kuta and found this branded street where they have all the branded beach wear outlets like Billabong, Quick Silver, Roxy and etc. We went to the Billabong Factory Outlet where they have discount up to 75%!! But we were disappointed as the design wasn't nice. Then we went to another factory outlet where they have all the branded products like Quick Silver and Roxy. Which was really cheap! I bought a Quick Silver beach pant with RM108 and a Roxy t-shirt with RM50+. Poor Andrew couldn't join us for these. He arrived at Bali a day later than us. And so he joined us after our shopping.

Hard Rock Bali

We walked to Hard Rock from our hotel. Took us about 10 to 20 minutes.
I've heard of this for a very long time but never been one before. Heard my colleagues said that Hard Rock just open in Penang! Will find a day to go there and see the differences! In Bali's Hard Rock there were no head charge. We just order a cup of Heineken for each person and we were allowed to go in. I don't know about the Penang's branch, high possibility we have to pay head charge for that =.=" Dam expensive, not worth it. Plus I can't drink. It took me ages to finish a cup of Heineken, in the end Ding Ren finish it up for me because when we were leaving I still haven't finish mine :P

However, I enjoy it very much as they have a stage and live band performing Rock songs there! It was like a concert! Just there weren't much people there. Hard to heat up with such numbers of customers @.@ Then we visited the Rock Shop, where they sell all Hard Rock products like t-shirt, caps, bears, key chain, lighter and many more. Saw a nice t-shirt that cost about RM100+ and our Ding Ren bought it ;)
A good thing stop by Hard Rock, there was FREE WIFI!! HURRAY! Not easy to find free wifi hotspot in Bali! Our 5 stars hotel charge $0.10 USD per minute!! Gosh..

On the next day, we went to swim at Holiday Inn's swimming pool because we were going to check out already. The pool was nice, a relaxing-type nice, not the fun-type nice. Because there was a bar in the middle of the pool. Some 'ang mor' sunbathing there and some sleep and relax themselves by the pool.

After we check out, we have a tour guide took us around Bali Island for one day and a half starting on our third day of our trip, which was extremely not enough! Many places we went were so nice and I can't get enough of it!

Cultural Park

Our first stop was this Cultural Park. This place was amazing. Again, they have nice view and decorations. Our researcher, Ding Ren, saw the unfinish hand of their God on the net before. This place really was a nice place for photo shooting!! :P

We never really know the history of this place, because we were not interested :P

Uluwatu

This was the most amazing place ever! The whole Bali trip, this place was incredible!! The view.. Gosh.. Hardly describe with words! The sea, the sky, the mountain, the cliff, the sea wave was blue in color. You can't amazed by the photos, you have to see it with your own eyes.

Before we came here, our tour guide told us that there were monkeys there and the monkeys were all aggressive! He told us not to wear any glasses, ear rings or any other things that will attract the monkeys because they'll come snatch your stuff! Truely, we saw a Japanese tourist camera were snatched by the monkey!! It was terrible..

Uluwatu Beach

Not far from the Uluwatu cliff, we stop by Uluwatu Beach for 30 minutes. The beach was short, but many 'ang mor' sunbathing and surfing again. Saw a lot of handsome guys and pretty girls! Satisfied both guys and girls.. LOL

Tirta Empul Water Temple

We went to this place first thing on the next day in the morning. Nothing special about this temple. I never really fancies "temple tour" :P Well except for the pretty lake. There was a pretty lake there where it was the farmers source of water and so they build this temple here to worship the God and the lake. There was water coming out from the bottom of the lake. It was pretty..

Bali Coffee Farm

Our next stop was this coffee farm. I didn't know that Bali is famous with coffee until I went there :P First time saw original fruit-type coffee bean, it was red instead of dark chocolate. I know that it only turns into dark chocolate after it was fried but then I didn't know the original color la. Other than that, it was my first time saw the original look of vanilla plant too. It was dark chocolate instead of white! A little bit curious how come the color was so different :P

We have free coffee to drink there. There were coco which was very nice and tasted chocolate. Ginger tea which, tasted very ginger, I don't like it but then they said it's good for "Ng Ng" as I didn't have output for 3 days already, so I drank some, result was so so, have output but very tiny and less in quantity :P Then there was my favorite of all, Ginseng Coffee. It tasted really really nice! And we can't found Ginseng Coffee back in Malaysia!

Besides, there was also a special expensive coffee, called Musang-shit-coffee lolz.. It was a shit of an animal called Musang, the animal was kind of look like squirrel. It only ate high quality coffee bean and then poo it back out. So, they take the poo (ewww) and process it and make it into a coffee. The guy told us the coffee is like 'Tongkat Ali' and good for MAN!! Haha.. But this coffee wasn't free, have to pay for it, $6 USD per cup. So 6 of us share 1 cup. I drank only a little bit cause I don't like it. Tasted weird and bitter.

As people say, there was no free lunch in this world. After you drink the free coffee, now they bring you to their shop to buy their coffee. Aihz.. Spend a lot of money here cause I like the Ginseng Coffee a lot. Then bought some souvenir here, a special gift pack of coffee which contain the coco, ginger tea and ginseng coffee. Bought it for my relatives.

Batur Volcano

Our next stop was this incredible Batur volcano! I tell you, the view was really really really incredible!!! What you see from the photo above, it was nothing, nothing can compare with seeing with your own eyes!! It was like a huge poster in front of you and it was so brilliantly pretty until it was too perfect to be true!

With this incredible view, people sure have tourist business to do here. They build a restaurant there, facing the incredible view. So comfortable. We were suppose to have our lunch there, but then we ate too much from our hotel buffet so we were just order some drinks and enjoy the view..

Rice Terraces

Doesn't get to stop here and enjoy the view for long. They have this multistory rice terraces! It was pretty. Before I came to Bali I always wished to take a photo in the rice terraces which the rice are ready to harvest in gold-yellow color and tall. It would make a wonderful pictures. Too bad the season we went there just pass the harvest season. Most of the padi field we saw were just normal green just like the one in Malaysia :(

Ubud Art Market

Our last stop of the tour was this Ubud Art Market! For the girls, they were so excited because they can shopping at last!! However we only have one hour here as we have to rush back to our resort and catch the free shuttle van to the pub street after this. There were so so many nice things to see and buy! However, the fun of shopping here was not shopping but is to bargain the price with the locals =.=" I feel like I was in China, where you have to bargain at least 50% of the price they give you. It was quite tired. If you have no interest in that item U MUST NOT ASK FOR THE PRICE!! Otherwise they'll stick on you and keep on narrow down the prices! Feel so annoying. However I still bought a lot of souvenir here. For those who didn't get my souvenir sorry la har! Can't afford so many souvenirs :P

Legian Pub Street

Our last night in Bali, we went to the Legian Pub Street, where few years ago a bomb case happened here. We were little bit scare when we going there. Didn't stay for long, just walk around and have a look that's all.

There was an interesting story while we getting to Legian. The free shuttle van was actually stop us at Seminyak, which we were told that from Seminyak to Legian was actually walking distance. When we tried to walk to Legian, I asked directions from a local and he point us the wrong way!! The more we walk the darker the alley become! Terrified, we asked directions from a security guard and he told us we went for the wrong way! So they help us to catch a taxi and we took taxi to Legian instead. IT WAS FAR!! Oh my god, can't believed we plan to walk there.

Also, our dinner that night at Seminyak, guess what, mee cup at a high class convenience store! Why? Because they have free wifi so that I can upload photos to Facebook! :P

Below is the memorial stone for those who sacrifice in the bomb. No Malaysian found. Mostly Australian. Rest in peace~~

Tanah Lot Temple

On the next day, we forced to woke up 5am in the morning because we have our final stop at Bali which was the Tanah Lot Temple just located beside of our resort. The purpose we choose this resort was actually because of this temple because we might not have the chance to take a close look when there's high tide. However we still unable to go inside the temple :( sad..

On our way walking to the seaside, we saw this huge bat!! It was really huge and ugly! Never saw a bat this close before. It wasn't tide up there but still it won't fly away. What a lazy bat. The wings really looks like Batman's :P

It was really a waste that we didn't have time to enjoy spa and massage!! REGRET!! I will come back Bali one day.. Stay at 5 stars hotel and do spa there!!

to be continue...

Gizwiz Studio Bali Trip - The Hotel

Wahahaha!! Sorry for the late post.. Been kind of lazy after I get my iPhone 3GS!! Spend more time on my iPhone nowadays :P
I know some of you already waited for very long time especially Apple, and Etee, they said that they're going to link from their blog to mine because they're lazy to blog =.="

It was 14th September 2009, that was the Bali Day!! After one month plus I worked in Gizwiz, I get to join their trip to the Bali Island for five days!! Extremely excited!! YoHoo! We have six person traveling together. On 14th Septemper 8am, we gather at Penang airport and took flight to Kuala Lumpur LCCT airport. While we were checking in at LCCT airport, we realise that Andrew's passport was expired!!! We didn't know that the passport was not usable 6 months before it due! Thundershock.. Andrew unable to join us to Bali at the first day. He was forced to enjoy his Bali-Peng at Seremban, Kuala Lumpur and renew his passport there. Then join us on the next day. Poor thing.. Think positively, this could became a memorable trip for Andrew :P Anyway, five of us manage to get on the flight and we were heading to BALI!!

Air Asia services was okay. However, it was little bit scary for me because we were taking long distance flight which took 4 hours before arrived at Bali, but the plane they used was small plane which were same as internal flight in Malaysia! I thought they have a bigger and more stable plane for long distance flight =.=" But still, we arrived safely at Bali at around 8pm. Denpasar airport was small and old. They already have many traditional decorations at the airport but Penang airport actually prettier than theirs. We took some tourist leaflets at the airport..

The one thing that we couldn't get use to at Bali was their currency value!! I took my RM1000 to change into Rupiah and I got 2.8 millions!! Before I actually saw the money I thought I have to travel with those money in a suitcase like in the movie with all cash keeping neatly inside :P We became millionaire at Bali! When we decided to took taxi from the airport to our hotel, we paid Rp90,000 (RM32.29) for two cabs. I was shocked at first because I thought it was expensive, after I convert into Ringgit Malaysia with my new iPhone 3GS applications (not trying to show off please don't be sensitive :P) then it was actually quite cheap.

Hotel

During this five days trip, we stayed at two hotels. Holiday Inn Resort located at Kuta, and Le Meridien Nirwana Golf and Spa Resort located at Tanah Lot. Both were 5 stars hotel!! We stay at Holiday Inn Resort for the first 2 nights and then changed to Le Meridien for the next following nights.

Holiday Inn Resort

We were impressed by their services when we first arrived Holiday Inn Resort. The bellboy brought us a wet tower, and a glass of lemon juice at the lobby while we were checking in. And the interior of the hotel... picture tells million words..

The balcony of our room were so so so comfortable, there was a nice comfortable sofa at the balcony, although our room doesn't have great view, but still, the sofa was like a magic sofa, once you lye on it you doesn't want to do anything except SLEEP on it!!

Le Meridien Nirwana Golf and Spa Resort

Our second hotel was Le Meridien Nirwana Golf and Spa Resort. This hotel was HUGE!! There was a distance between the guard house and the lobby! Our driver told us, the first them he went there he got lost and he can't found the lobby! It was really huge as they have golf field in the resort! This hotel have different style compare to Holiday Inn. Holiday Inn use card key for the room and this hotel, was more tradition because they used key, and their decoration was more classic too! However, the view, was INCREDIBLE! It was huge!! There was a louche bar where a perfect singer singing oldish songs and Jazz songs during the night, they have snooker, wii, and indoor golf to play. So comfortable spend time in this hotel. I have a video for this..

Photos of Le Meridien Nirwana Golf and Spa Resort..

Too bad we don't have enough time to enjoy all their facilities. Our driver told us we need at least a day to enjoy all the facilities in the resort. I WILL COME BACK HERE NEXT TIME!!

However this hotel was far away from the town area, took us about 45 minutes to get back here. But it was definitely worth it! When we came back to the hotel by taxi, the taxi driver took us to a dark alley and he told us that place was mysterious! By meaning, GHOST! Haha, Jasmine was freak out when she heard that. It cost us Rp160,000 and when I wanted to pay him, I was confused with Rp100,000 and Rp10,000 because both were red in color! So the driver asked me "what do you mean?" with the unhappy tone. So embarrassing and I have to explain that I can't get use to Rupiah yet :P

to be continue... Next post - Places we went!

Kung Fu Cyborg (机器侠)

I still can't believe I watched this movie, and I can't believe I'm reviewing this movie =.=" Why on earth I went to watch this movie? Have a gathering with my ex-classmates and since there was no other activities, we were forced to watch movie. I wanted to watch Orphan, however, due to God know what happen, GSC Queensbay and Gurney doesn't have this movie available. See the poster? Looks familiar? Check this out..

Don't feel like talk much, watch the trailer first..

See? Pirated Transformers? What the hell =.=" Why China have so many pirated stuff? Movie also they have pirated? Did Dreamworks know about this? Can't they sue them? No idea.. Other than pirated Transformers, they also copy some element from Power Rangers. Saw the chinese zombie huge robot from the trailer? There were actually 2 people sitting inside his eyes controlling the robot. Is this the morphin time?? And what's wrong with Alex Fong's hair? Copy Elvis?

Let's talk about the cast. They have really good cast! Wu Jun, Shun Li, Wu Jing, Zheng Zhi Wei, all are good acting actors and actress! Why on earth did they take this job? Is Hong Kong movie industry (who knows Hong Kong or China?) heading to an end until they made this kind of movie? What is this actually? Pirated Transformers or Pirated Scary Movie series? Where is our childhood memories Hong Kong style movies? Is this dropping phenomena cause by Chinese audiences who bought pirated DVD and illegal download or cause by Hong Kong movie industry lack of potential directors? **sigh**

This movie, visual effects and CGI sucks. We don't compare it with Hollywood's or west countries technologies, just compare it with other Hong Kong movie 鬼蜮 by Pang's brothers, it sucks!! When there were robots, there were no humans, when there were humans, there were no robots. They can't make both appear simultaneously. So, the selling point of this movie, visual effects and CGI, fail. Heard they invested a lot to do the CG, but I can't see their effort at all =.="

Storyline? Started okay, with the theme "If God made human, human made robots, why can't robots doubt human, as human doubt God?". Sound familiar? Remember i-Robot from Will Smith? Okay, that was fine. However, it was pointless, seriously pointless, so I'll skip this part. Appearance of Wu Jing was pointless. What a waste!

Another line of the story was love story between Alex Fong and Shun Li. It started well, as their love story was quite romantic. And then the robot Alex Fong realized robot is not suppose to fall in love with human so this was actually another no happy ending love story. If Alex Fong start the relationship with Shun Li there was a program to destroy him. When I started to focus on their love story and started to think "hmm, this might better than Transformers 2!", it disappointed me. Because in the end when he decided to fight for his freedom, the government sent a bunch of robots army, there was one robot who looks like Devastator from Transformers 2, he gave up because his policeman friend, persuade him to stop fighting and surrender, so that big huge pirated Devastator was no chance to use =.=" So he decided to say "I love you" to that girl and self-destroyed by his own anti-love program. It wasn't touched as the foundation of their love story was not strong enough.

Jokes. Lame jokes, not funny at all jokes. Again the appearance of Ronald Cheng was pointless. His character was the most lame and not funny. Appearance of 罗家英 was pointless too when he first appear in the movie, his theme song from Steven Chow's "Journey to the West" which sounded like "Only You~~ Can take me 取西经" was so lame and I can't laugh but I sweat =.="

The only thing that I can give compliment in this movie was actress Shun Li. Good acting skill and pretty. Although the love story foundation wasn't good, but when Alex Fong died, her acting was good when she cried. Still, it was a waste for her in this movie as it can't let her unleash or show her skills perfectly.

I rated this movie 3/10
For Shun Li and the not so well love story. Others... I'm speechless.. disappointed with Hong Kong movie industry.

District 9

**Caution! Spoiler Ahead!!**

Finally! I watched this movie! It has been awhile that I wanted to watch this movie because the rating is very high in Rotten Tomatoes which is 89%. Other than that, I heard people said that this movie used different shooting skill which was like Cloverfield if you guys remember.

I love Cleverfield because it was so real, the whole movie was like recorded with DV camera. When Cloverfield released in Malaysia in 2008, there was two sided reviews, one group which was like me, love the story and the shooting style, another group of people hate it and some of them even vomit during the half way of the movie because of the dizziness. Well, I think it is more difficult for Malaysian audiences to accept new element. Most of them were like typical movie watcher who only enjoy those popcorn movies, action or movie full of visual effects, pathetic.
Here is the trailer of District 9..

As you can see in this trailer, there are some scenes which were like interviewing, and some black people saying their opinions about District 9. Actually that was in the movie, the first half of the movie were like documentary, interviewing and scene taken from breaking news, some of the scenes taken from CCTV videos. Maybe some people can't accept this type of shooting style, but please la! Open your mind and focus on the story instead of visual effects, action and explosions!!! Gosh..

District 9, is a movie about aliens, but it was not like those usual alien movie from the past, which normally about alien attacking human, alien wants to take over the world.. bla bla bla.. NO! In this movie, alien were treated badly on earth. They were like low level animal and they called them 'prawn' and they were quarantined in a slum area at Africa called 'District 9' for more than 20 years. There were 2.5 millions of the alien's population and they're still growing! They were not welcome but they can't go back to their planet because their spaceship have not enough materials which was like a power source.

On the other hand, human are so cruel and selfish! They can do anything just for their own benefits! In the beginning of the movie, when the main character, Wikus who worked with the government department called MNU, they went into district 9 to tell the aliens that they have to move to another area called district 10 because the locals not welcome them and wish them to move far away from human habitat. Then they found a house which full of alien's egg, I feel so uneasy when they poke the egg and there were alien baby make suffering voice but the man torturing the baby still smiling happily without any guilty face. Then they burn down the house and saying to the camera (because this part were like recorded with DV camera) "Did you hear that? There were some popping noise, it was incredible!".. So CRUEL!!

After that, he found a device and he accidentally exposed to the liquid from the device. That liquid was actually the power source where the alien found from the junk for 20 years and collect from some of the broken parts of the aliens equipments. Then after the exposure, Wikus DNA transforming slowly into aliens! His injured hand transform fully into alien's hand. Again, human are so selfish!! When the scientist saw that phenomena, they captured him and make him to do experiments to use the alien's weapons. Because their weapons doesn't work with human's hand. Then in the end, the scientist said that Wikus was valuable with all those biotechnology experiments and they have to kill him to take all his organs for experiments!! So CRUEL!! Luckily he manage to escape and hide inside District 9 because he got no where else to go.

But what I not understand in this movie is, since the aliens have so advance and powerful weapon, why don't they fight back and stop bullied by human?
Since they have so high technology weapon they can actually fight back and take over earth. But then it'll become another another popcorn movie la :P I heard some people said because the aliens that stuck on earth were actually the "workers" not the "fighters", so that is why they don't fight back. But workers can also fight back if they were seriously mistreated isn't it? :P
Another thing confused me is, how human and alien can communicate? In this movie human can understand alien's language and alien can understand human language as well. Some people said because the alien already stay on earth for 20 years of course they must have learned to communicate with human. But alien language don't have dictionary or translator as reference, how can those human learn the alien language without having any references? Hmm.. Curious :P

In the end, (well maybe I'll spoiled you for this, but I've already written caution on top of this post :P) one of the alien (they called him Christopher) successfully escape using the liquid energy he found, he drove their spaceship away. But other alien still remained on earth. He said that he will go back to their planet and call for backup to save his own kind and help reveal Wikus back to human form. Here is the question, what will going to happened next? District 9 has been moved to District 10 and that place were far more worst and jail-alike. Is Christopher is going to bring back an army and attack human for their revenge? Or he'll just come back to save his own kind? Or he'll not come back at all? Let's wait the answer to be revealed on the second episode!!

Before the movie end there were a small action packed where Wikus was chased by the MNU. And he ride a alien-made robots and have a little fights scenes there.
Highly recommend everyone to watch this movie, you can see how selfish human can be. And I like movies that have both storyline + visual effects.
But sadly many people don't know how to appreciate this type of movie. My girlfriend and her friends wanted to watch this movie and while they were buying tickets, the ticket seller told them this movie not nice! And they end up watching Orphan instead =.=" How can he influenced customers?!! Unbelievable.. PATHETIC!!!
I rate this movie 9/10.. Two thumbs up!!

P/S: I am listening to Penang Hokkien Live Podcast ghost story while writing this post, so if there's any mistake please point it out to me la :P By the way, the ghost story so scary, I have to sleep with lights on :(
